On this important journey of empowering lives, we have come to certain places where barriers must be overcome for sustainable empowerment to take place in the life of a person, family, or community.

The causes of poverty and hopelessness are varied and interwoven with personal choices, spiritual dynamics, environmental influences, and unavoidable influence and impact from other people, war, and governments. No one approach can address adequately the problems of poverty nor can one approach or program truly bring about the empowerment and sustainability we strive for. This takes time, prayerful discernment and strategic, cooperative efforts – between our staff, the people we are invited to serve, and, at times, the larger community. Through unique programs and business ventures ELI invests in people and entire communities, helping them reach greater levels of hope, sustainability, and empowerment.
