Christine Metcalf
During my last two years at Westmont College, the Lord clearly redirected my focus from where it had been – securing a position in the publishing industry – to where He wanted it to be – pouring His love into children in need. I first received from Him a clear calling to ministry and the desire to care for children followed. This desire has evolved into a clearer sense of calling: helping children orphaned by AIDS.
As I explored what God would have me do, the organization that came closest to a “fit” for my gifts and contribution was ELI. So, just a few weeks after graduating, I traveled to East Africa and had the opportunity to see and experience firsthand the work that ELI is doing. Blown away by not only the impact ELI is making in our world, but also the great sense of peace that I received while at the Ilula Children’s Home, I knew that this was where I needed to be. Not necessarily overseas, but making a difference where I was most needed – in the U.S., speaking for those who can’t speak for themselves.
As ELI’s Coordinator for Child Sponsorships, I manage correspondence between sponsors and their children, manage communication between sponsors and ELI’s U.S. office, collect and produce profiles for all of our sponsored children, and much more. May God be glorified in this ministry as we empower the lives of these little ones!
