Looking back on how God brought me to serve with Empowering Lives International, I really do consider it a miracle. In 1996 my husband to be went on a short-term trip to Tanzania and Kenya through ELI. As Russ and I dated, we continued to keep in close touch with the ministry through their yearly banquets. In April of 2000 we attended an ELI banquet just two weeks before our wedding. Russ met with Don Rogers (Director of ELI) later in the week where, as a side note, he mentioned me, my work experience and expertise, and my desire to serve with ELI if any opportunity ever arose. On July 4th I received a phone call from Kenya – it was Don Rogers. One thing led to another and after many weeks of praying and seeking God’s will, I joined ELI in mid-August 2001.
I am blessed to serve ELI through a variety of roles. Currently I spend about half of my time processing all of the accounting procedures for the organization. The remainder of my time is spent developing marketing and communication materials, teaming with others on the planning and preparation of our short-term teams, and communicating with our Kenya staff regarding all project/funding issues. Through my previous roles, I know God was preparing me for this place. Everyday, as I work with the business-side of ELI and provide support for our missionaries, I find joy knowing God truly handpicked me to serve in this way.
My mission and passion as I serve with ELI is…
To research, understand, and manage all issues relating to the financial and business aspects of Empowering Lives with effectiveness, efficiency, and resourcefulness so the ministry can operate with confidence, assurance, and security in our business practices.
As ELI continues to grow in ministry, the opportunities for me to serve within my passion seem to be endless! Thank you for your prayers and support as God continues to grow this ministry and this team.
