I greet you in the name of Jesus. My name is Lena, I am 53-years-old, married and a mother of eight children. My children range in age from nine to 32, so it’s always busy at our home. I am from the Kalenjin tribe, attend the local church and live in the village of Chebaiywa. One year ago, my family was struggling with where we would find the funds in order to buy food, but that struggle has now ended. Since I began making envelopes for ELI, we are able to put food on the table and a smile on our children’s faces. Thank you for your partnership in helping my family!
My name is David Kemboi, and I am saved! I am 23-years-old and live in the rural village of Chebaiywa where there is no electricity or running water. I have great plans for the future, and I am starting now! In 2000, I began making envelopes for the Paper Project, and this project has helped launch me into a business that I am hoping to continue for the years ahead. The income I receive from making envelopes has helped me with basic household needs, and, also, it has helped me to buy iron sheets for my roof, a cow and poultry. I have purchased poultry, because now I am getting an income from selling the eggs that the chickens are producing! God is good, and His faithfulness continues to be shown to me.
My name is Rodah Jeserem, I am 45-years-old, and Jesus is my personal Savior. I have lived a poor life, because I have never had any income. I live in the rural village of Chebaiywa with my husband and six children, I have forgotten their ages, in a small house without electricity or running water. However, things are beginning to change for my family. I have been making envelopes for ELI that they sell in the United States, and my family is doing much better now! I am able to buy the basic necessities for my family, and this has tremendously helped my family. Thank you for your assistance.
In my home with a grass-thatched roof, alcohol used to be strongly smelled from outside, but not anymore. My name is Salina Murey, I am married, a mother of eight children, and I am saved! For as long as I can remember, I daily drank alcohol. However, after joining the Alcoholics Anonymous program in the village of Plateau, I accepted Jesus as my personal Savior, and I am free of the bondage of alcohol. Now, I am making envelopes for the Paper Project, and this has been an enormous blessing. Before I could not provide the basic needs for my children, but now they are being educated and food is daily provided for them. I am very grateful for all the Paper Project is doing for me and my family.
Because I used to brew and drink alcohol, I caused my family many problems. My name is Hellen Bungei, I am 46-years-old, married and the mother of ten children from the age 6 to 27. I thought I was doing well by earning an income through brewing, but I often did not see the problems that it was causing. Now, I have come out of that darkness and have accepted Jesus as my personal Savior. Instead of earning an income through brewing, I am now providing for my family by making envelopes for the Paper Project. I feel joy and happiness again, and the love of God fills my heart and my family’s heart for the first time. Thank you for helping my family.
Although my children are grown, my life is often difficult and strenuous. My name is Mama Kemei, and I am a widow. My husband passed away a few years ago, and I moved to the village of Chebaiywa to be near my family, and I live in small round mud hut with a grass-thatched roof. God has provided a way for me to come out of the poverty that I once lived in and to escalate me to a place where I know that I will be able to provide food. This way has been through making envelopes for the Paper Project. This is something that I have come to enjoy and put my whole heart into. I want to make the best envelopes I can. Thank you for your assistance and goodness to me.
My life used to be filled with many problems due to brewing and drinking alcohol, but I have left that life and have accepted Jesus as my personal Savior. My name is Lea Maiyo. I am married and the mother of eight children from the age of two to 17. I live in a small home with a grass-thatched roof without electricity or running water, but I praise God for the shelter that we have. I left the life of alcohol one year ago, and now I am making paper for the Paper Project. This has tremendously helped my family’s life improve, because now I can provide for their basic necessities. Please keep me in your prayers and continue to help in the ways that you already are. Praise the Lord!
I praise God for what He has done in my life and my family’s life. My name is Christine Chumo, I am 31-years-old, married and a mother of six children. Recently, there was a new church planted in our community, and my husband was chosen as the pastor, plus he also helps lead the Alcoholics Anonymous program. So, our lives are always busy. Because I don’t have any means of getting money, the Paper Project has helped our family move forward in life, because we can count on a consistent income! I am using the income that I receive from making envelopes for school fees and to buy household necessities, such as sugar, salt and soap. Last year, I had a severe health condition (neck goiter) that required an operation, and ELI helped to assist me in that operation, which I am so thankful for. I wasn’t even able to get out of bed one year ago, but now my life has resumed to a normal pace, and I praise God for that. I don’t have anything else to say except thank you so much for what you have done for my family, and may God bless you abundantly!
When you are a mother of ten children, providing for them is often difficult. My name is Sarah Too, I am 48-years-old, married and my children range in age from five-years-old to 25-years-old. We live in a small mud home with a grass-thatched roof without electricity or running water. In 2000, I began making envelopes for ELI’s Paper Project, and my children are the ones who have benefited greatly from this project! I am using the income that I receive from making paper to ensure that my children are getting the education they need, thus I am able to pay for their school fees. It’s exciting! Also, the income is helping to support my family’s basic household needs. Thank you for your help in assisting my family to move forward in life.
