Jesus for African Child

A few years ago, Edinah Maiyo became involved with a program called Nyumba ya Yesu (House of Jesus.) This children’s program on Saturdays was established in Kipkaren with the majority of the children below the age of ten. These programs gave her the opportunity to meet children from many different churches and teach them about the Bible. Many of the children confessed their sins and repented, but Edinah still wasn’t sure if they would really follow the ways of the Lord. Edinah did realize that these children had much to offer in ministry as the Lord reminded her of Matthew 18:4, “Therefore, whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.”

Today in Kenya you will find twenty-five young evangelists with Matthew 18:4 printed on their uniform t-shirts. Edinah helped these children organize their talents to become the group called Jesus for African Child. These young evangelists are invited to different outreach meetings to share their one-hour program. Along with dancing and singing, there are testimonies, memory verses, and words from Sarah Cherono, the twelve-year-old evangelist. As Edinah is describing this ministry, her passion for the children is reflected on her face. “People see that even a child can share and preach to those who have not yet heard the word of God. I am really amazed to see what God is doing.” Lives are being changed because these kids heard a call upon their hearts to share the love of God, and Edinah answered the call to help organize them. It is Edinah’s prayer that God will continue pouring His Holy Spirit upon the hearts of the children. It is also her prayer that God will open doors for the group to travel to different parts of Africa.

As you remember the Jesus for African Child ministry team, pray for their transportation and safety needs. It becomes very difficult to transport twenty-five children to different villages in Africa. Sometimes they have to walk many hours, or they all cram into one small vehicle. Pray also for Edinah as she continues to lead this dynamic group. It is exciting to see all that God has in store to accomplish through these amazing children. He has already done so much!
