On April 5, 2003, ELI proudly graduated its second class of six-month students. During the previous six months, 18 Kenyans had been living, studying, working, and worshipping together at ELI’s Kipkaren River Training Center. Each of these students represents the next generation of economic and spiritual development leaders for their respective communities. Their hard work, integrity, passion for Christ, and community development initiatives will surely instill hope and affect tangible progress towards breaking cycles of poverty in their villages. Equipped with education and extensive practice in livestock, garden management, agro-forestry, horticulture, agricultural economics, beekeeping, fish farming, and many other areas; these students will bring significant life-changing projects and education to their homelands.
William Kiprop, a six-month student states: “I would like to take this opportunity to thank you again for your support in facilitating my learning at Kipkaren Training Center. I am now able to develop, produce, and implement a plan to be used in life training in my community. I have been taught thirteen subjects which are very helpful in our day-to-day lives. I believe that my learning has given me skills, knowledge, and a positive attitude towards development in the community. These are now tools to use as I organize teamwork in my community to create food security awareness. I am now prepared to work with my community. I will organize demonstration areas where I can show and teach my people practical things like poultry keeping, gardening, beekeeping and others.”
