In the village of Ngenyilel, Kenya, Anold Kibet was born into a life that tested him early. His mother tragically passed away during childbirth and his father was not present in his life, so he was left in the care of his grandparents. His grandfather, a farmer, worked hard to support the family however he could, while his grandmother did her best to make their home comfortable. Despite their efforts, Anold still lacked the basic necessities needed to thrive as a young boy.

Then, everything began to change when volunteers from our Ilula Children’s Home visited the village. During this visit, they quickly discovered potential and promise within Anold’s quiet demeanor. So, in 2023, Anold was welcomed into the children’s home, marking the beginning of a brand new chapter!

At first, Anold was shy, keeping to himself as he adjusted to the unfamiliar environment. But soon enough, he began to come out of his shell! He found joy in drawing, specifically cars, which he sketched in bright colors that filled page after page. Crayons, toy cars, kind teachers, and new friends all brought smiles where there used to be silence.

Over time, his confidence continued to grow! He started raising his hand in class, joined playground games, and helped other new kids feel at home. His transformation has deeply touched not only his forever family at ELI, but his grandparents, who are still involved in his life and cheering him on every step of the way.

Though his past was woven with challenges, Anold’s future is bright! His story is one of quiet strength and steady hope, and we can’t wait to see how the Lord continues to guide his steps.
