Though she has had to face more hardships than any child ever should, Maria Elilim has grown to be a courageous World Changer, full of purpose and joy. When they were much too young, Maria and her brother lost their mother to a devastating stroke and went to live with their elderly grandmother, who was not well-equipped or prepared to take care of them. As her new reality set in, Maria felt lost, hopeless, and as if her childhood was being taken from her. However, hope came knocking on her grandmother’s door one day in the form of an ELI Children’s Home staff member! Then, in December 2017, Maria and her brother were admitted into the loving embrace of the Kipkaren Children's Home.

As Maria adjusted to life at the Children’s Home, she found more than just shelter and sustenance–she discovered a nurturing environment that fostered her spiritual growth, encouraged understanding of her God-given design, provided her with a quality education, and instilled in her a sense of true belonging. Her house parents were always there to encourage and guide her, quickly recognizing her extraordinary potential. Through this consistent encouragement, Maria was able to start chasing her dreams with confidence! Now in grade 4 at Brook of Faith Academy, Maria excels in her studies, fueled by her biggest dream of becoming a teacher one day. Her desire to help others and guide a classroom with enthusiasm is awe-inspiring!

Not only does Maria thrive in school, but she has also grown into a fearless leader in the Children’s Home devotions. Each night, she pours her heart out to God through song and scripture, never holding back. Maria’s relentless pursuit of knowledge and connection with her Heavenly Father is a shining example to other children in the home, and we pray that her spirit remains unshaken!

Maria possesses a strength and faith that surpasses all expectations. She has overcome so many challenges and has grown into a passionate World Changer! The future holds great promise for this remarkable girl, and we eagerly await the incredible things she will achieve.
